"Sweden's hottest municipality"
For many years as a resident and entrepreneur in Skellefteå, my frustration grew as I watched the
cities around Skellefteå grow while we shrank. And this for no real reason, as we had every
opportunity to grow and develop, at least as well as other cities in Sweden. The young people moved to other cities for education and jobs, and all too rarely came back.
In 2012 I accepted the position Business Development Director for the city. For 9 years I worked together with the local political leadership and service organization, and during that period I got to see how our municipality turned 180 degrees. From pessimism and low self-confidence, to a brave, bold and forward-looking place that is now growing the most in Sweden. And which, according to Dagens Industri, is called "Sweden's hottest municipality".
